This summer Magadan is celebrating the 90th City Foundation and 80th City Status anniversaries. The Magadan Mayor's Office, in partnership with Kinross Far East LLC announced a half marathon to mark these milestones and promote the healthy lifestyle.
About the Half Marathon
The Magadan Half-Marathon is a unique race through the streets of one of the northernmost cities of Russia.

Medals are awarded for each course to all competitors who have completed the course. Medals and certificates will be awarded to men's and women's all-around champions for each tier as well as to the top three men's and women's finishers for each tier.

Medical clearance is mandatory for all routes.

*Medical clearance for athletes will be available at the Medical Preventive Care Clinic from June 3rd onward.

Hockey tournament
Since 2010, Chukotka has hosted the annual Russian-Canadian ice hockey tournament under the ownership of Kinross Gold and the Chukotka Government with Dinamo-Anadyr, the Kinross Nuggets and the All-Anadyr teams as regular tournament participants.

The Streetball Tournament
Since 2015, Magadan has hosted an annual basketball tournament for the Cup of Kinross Far East. The event focuses on involving community members in regular sport and fitness activities. Winners and finalists are awarded with valuable gifts, medals, certificates, sport cups and diplomas of merit.

The Run from the Bear race
Every summer, the Chukotka-based Kupol mine hosts the Run from the Bear Race. The initiative was first piloted in 2016 and has since become an annual tradition. Athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves with one of 2 km, 5 km or 10 km races. The event features trophies for winners and memorable souvenirs and certificates for all competitors.

The Moscow marathon
Kinross employees' sports engagement expands beyond our internal corporate wide sports initiatives to include regional, national and even global sporting events. An example is the Moscow Marathon, the primary running event in Russia, which hosts both professional and amateur runners.
